October 16 Castlepoint to Napier
Left with clear skies, dry roads and the whatever’s. Took a right for Tinui and was immediately in loose, very loose gravel. It seems that the county was up there with loads of gravel the week before and they depend on local traffic to compact the gravel down. It was like driving on marbles for miles until I got far enough along the road where the logging trucks finally made an impact. Into Alfredton and turning for Weber, next northwest to Dannevirke then catching Route 2 into Napier. Overall it was a great ride and coming into Napier everything warmed up. Caravan site was right on the bay and again I was the only one there with a tent.
